Boracay Island

Almost everyone has heard of the place Boracay at least once in their lives, but to those who have been there, the experience never escapes. I look at a photograph I took last summer when my friends and I were having a vacation in Boracay. I remember when I took it, I remember looking into the distance towards the sea and thinking to myself “This is paradise”.I remember that I laughed a lot because it was one of those days. Perfect weather, the kind you get maybe only a couple of times a year‚ if you’re lucky. And we were fortunate enough to have seen everything in perfect shape. The sea sparkles as it crashes toward the shore.

The crystal clear water is getting darker and deeper, as it stretches out far into the horizon. The air is crisp‚ and the smell of saltwater is bittersweet. It seems as if you’re walking on a land of gold‚ with the sand being so soft and smooth‚ and it illuminates brightly as it reflects the sun’s rays with happiness. The whole beach itself looks like a painted picture which the artist has created magnificently. It’s not perfect‚ but it’s getting there. The view is breath-taking‚ and the sunset is magical.

Looking slowly up into the pink sky‚ I watched the golden sun go to sleep. The sky is a gorgeous shade of an exquisite mixture of pink grapefruits, citrus oranges and zesty lemons. It’s so close that you could almost taste it. As I walk down the beach, I see people, mostly tourists walking hand in hand across the shoreline‚ just enjoying the tranquility that the beach itself has to offer. I even see couples counting the stars that has stretched across the night sky, with the moon shining brightly‚ glistening the waters to perfection. Parties are common in the island. The party lights can illuminate sections of the beach almost as brightly as the sun would during the day. There are bonfires‚ and dances‚ and everyone joins in the fun.

There is enough food to feed the Philippine Army‚ and other recreational activities that make it even more exciting. It’s true when they say “Life’s a Beach!” because it really is. As the end grew near, I encounter a variety of mixed emotions – I am happy because I am living a moment full of wondrous revelations, and sad because unfortunately all good things must come to an end‚ and the hardest part of it all is saying goodbye to something that you wish would last forever. If ever I am given a chance to go back there, I definitely would because honestly‚ every beach I'd ever been to so far had been great, but Boracay still remains to be my favorite.
